The Defect Containment measure compares the SE lifecycle stage in which a defect was detected versus the lifecycle stage in which a defect originated. It measures the effectiveness of the process steps in capturing defects early in the development cycle.

Improvement in Process is shown by reduction in out of phase (leaked) defects.   77% to 23% leakage
