Catherine KEENER, born April 16, 1802, died Nov. 19, 1888, aged 86 years, 7 months and 3 days. Was born in Virginia, and died at the residence of her daughter, Diana FOGLE, near Darke P.O., Darke Couty, O. Her death was caused by paralysis. She moved to Preble County, O., in early childhood. Was married to John HARTER, and moved to and settled in New Madison, Darke County, while the country was yet a wilderness. She has often related to her children how the wolves used to prowl around the house during the nights of those early times. To John HARTER and Catherine were born ten children, six sons and four daughters, of whom four sons and two daughters are still living. The number of grandchildren living now reaches forty, while the number of great-grandchildren is fifty-eight. John HARTER departed this life about forty-five years ago. About ten years afterward she married to David KEENER, who died about four years since. She was a faithful member of the Dunker Church for more than fifty years, and lived a shining example of christian piety. As a friend and neighbor she had but few equals, and she now leaves a great number to mourn a loved and fervent friend.
