Jacob G. Bashore was born in Berks County Pennsylvania, January 25, 1827. When one year old his family moved to Rockingham County Virginia. In 1834 they moved to Miami County Ohio, and in 1840, near Bradford. July 15, 1847 he was married to Sallie Miller. Three sons and three daughters were born to them. He was a very active man, serving the church in the deaconship for about three decades. He also searved on the District Mission Board a short time. He died April 24, 1895

baptised, he was a prisoner of the Iroquois and they did'nt know he was
still alive.

This name is derived from Latin meaning "cultivator". This name first
appears in the annals of Ville-Marie in 1661 when in the spring of 1661,
Messier was captured by the Iroquois. Others that were captured with him
reported that he had been put to death by fire, however this was false.
Messier was a native of St-Denis-le-Petit-Bourg, Diocese of Rouen, France.
