Sarah Gauby Bashore's first husband, Samuel Bashore, died at the age of 28, shortly after the birth of their first child (my great-grandmother, Christina Bashore). Sarah Gauby Bashore's first husband, Samuel Bashore, died at the age of 28, shortly after the birth of their first child (my great-grandmother, Christina Bashore). The IGI says a Samuel H. Bashore married Sarah A. Dohner, February 26, 1884, in Miami Co., Ohio

The IGI also says that Samuel H. Bashore was born in 1836 in Darke Co., OH. Could be a different Samuel Bashore, but the birthdate makes more sense in light of his wife's birthdate of 1839.

Notes from my grandmother (Sarah Ivah Myers Kingrey) reveal that Samuel Bashore was killed at age 28 in a railroad accident, being crushed between two boxcars in Bradford. (Bradford was quite the railroad hub in those days.) His daughter and my great-grandmother, Christina Bashore, was just an infant at that time, so she never really knew her father.

My aunt Ina Pearl Kingrey Apple has the family Bible which belonged to Samuel and Christina Bashore.

They had one child:
